Which system works in conjunction with the respiratory system?

The circulatory system works in conjunction with the respiratory system to facilitate the exchange of gases throughout the body. When the respiratory system inhales air, it brings oxygen into the lungs, where it then diffuses into the bloodstream. Concurrently, carbon dioxide from the blood is transferred back into the alveoli of the lungs to be exhaled. This collaboration allows for oxygen-rich blood to be pumped by the heart through the circulatory system and delivered to tissues and organs, while removing carbon dioxide, a waste product of metabolism.

While other systems such as the nervous and musculoskeletal systems support various functions of the body, they do not have the same direct role in gas exchange and blood oxygenation that the circulatory system provides in conjunction with the respiratory system. Each of the other options plays important roles in the body, but they do not directly interact with the respiratory process in the same essential manner as the circulatory system does.
